I wonder if David has done an analysis of the compensation costs that Govt might face from day one of his Bill becoming law if a corporate decided that its property rights have been compromised. I can think of Big Tobacco putting in a compensation claim. While ACT promulgates memes about saving tax payers dollars eg cancelling pay equity claims, ACT might see compensation claims being placed from day one of the legislation being passed into law that will potentially strip billions from Govt! He may open a can that has no limits to the compensation claims Govt could face! All the more reason for the Bill to canned!
🤔 No need to "wonder" 🤷 He hasn't! I think it is instructive that in her Spinoff article explaining why she is setting up a "people's committee" on the Pay Equity Bill, Marilyn Waring explained how to find out what evidence is attached to support the need for a Bill, what advice is sought & provided (and if it is for or against), so when I get the chance I'm going to do that with THIS Bill - BTW surprisingly (!) I showed almost NONE for the Pay Equity Bill 😱
Thanks for all your hard mahi in preparing and writing up such a powerful submission. I'm a retired social worker but I'm aware that both me and many of my former colleagues are making submissions also. My hope is that despite people being worn down by the unrelenting attacks on our society by this bunch of libertarian fever dreamers (lol) that they will still rise up as we did against the other nefarious bill and stick it to Davy boy.
So glad to hear that people are getting involved and acting on this. I'm hoping for just as many if not more than on the Treaty bill. Maybe wishful thinking but a boy can dream.
Fabulous ! Considered and concisely written submission Ryan. Love your summary of this nefarious ‘libertarian fever dream’. I’m banging on to anyone who’ll listen, to get their submissions in. I think the Treaty Principles bill took the wind out of many people and getting them to rise again seems a tad more difficult this time. That was probably the point. It now feels like it always a smokescreen for this Trojan donkey. Lord knows holding Luxon, Seymour and the rest of the vile cabal’s feet to the fire is bloody exhausting. I’d like to share a link to your submission to all my Kiwi buddies at home and abroad, on my FB page. Would you be ok with that?
🤔 I think the SAME people are just as motivated - speaking for myself I have been waiting to finish my submission as I knew Ryan & Bryan Bruce & Melanie Nelson & Dr Gary Payinda et al were doing articles & interviews with "expert" analysis that I wanted to digest in case there were points I hadn't considered, or explanations that clarified things 🤷 I think/hope it will be a bit like TPB with a rush of later submissions from other BOTs like me (Melanie Nelson calls us Brilliant Original Thinkers to reclaim the BOT characterisation 💪)
👍 Thanks for sharing - I am "just" a NZer without qualifications apart from life, commonsense, & empathy, so I appreciate getting a deeper understanding by absorbing the work that you and others share so I can see what I am missing, or reinforce what I already understand 👏
Happy to. I wanted to get it out there in case it was useful for others to think about for their own submissions. I could have spent way more time on it but the end of semester is here and I'm marking and meeting with students. I just went with what I had. Mel has been doing some fantastic work on this. So grateful for her interviews.
Interesting that the NZ Initiative paper the bill is based on is called "Constraining Government Regulation" - that could not make it any clearer what the intent of this legislation is.
Haha. He’s so against red tape in theory, but only if it doesn’t help his corporate agenda. I spend way too much time searching for graphics. That one was perfect.

It is absolutely staggering that the Minister for Women was not even consulted. WTF.

Excellent, it would be nice if your submission is read and considered by human beings, or even Members of Parliament, rather than AI

"Seymour's red-tape monster" is a great epithet! And love the graphic! Thanks for sharing Ryan.

Excellent submission Ryan, thanks for sharing.
Great submission! It's bound to be ignored 😅🤣😂
Thank you for sharing your submission. I valued being able to read your reasons for opposing the RSB.
I’m so glad you found it useful.
